Buddy Writing

The royal family of three, golden yellow, grey fantails glanced down at the blue, pale yellow baby eagle about to fall off a dark brown branch. The baby eagle shouted "HELP me, please help me!" and started crying louder and louder  "How will we save the eagle? We don't have wings!" thought the three fantails. The baby eagle was clutching on the branch, trying to push himself up to safety. The fantails were holding on to the baby eagles feet. The fantails shouted "We will help you as best as we can!"... 3 fantails tried to shout "Help, help, please! We need to help this beautiful bird up to the branch! He is about the fall on to lots of other branches!". The parents grabbed the eagle and put the eagle on to the branch and they all lived happily ever after!

The three little schnauzers and the big, bad wolf

Once upon a time, in the middle of the forest lived three little schnauzers! They had to move out of their doggy home because their mother said "Go build a great, strong home!," they dashed like fast cheetahs into the great, sandy plains, the first little schnauzer called Dashy made his house out of steak, beef and glass, its shape was half a sphere "Woofy, woof!," The second schnauzer called Woofy made its house with squeaky rubber. "Squeaky, SQUEAAKKK," The 3rd schnauzer called Noodle made its house out of the most best dog chocolate in the world, the door was made out of the strongest metal in the entire world and had brick inside, the house had an outside layer of thick, hard brick. Then another layer of the most hardest, strongest, most durable, waterproof wood! It had really strong arches to support the half of a sphere! A big, bad, wolf came. Writing Sample (Raapa te 8 o Whiringa-a-rangi)

Raapa te 8 o Whiringa-a-rangi "Eeeek-SCOWL!," I did not have any clue what to put in to my story! I was strongly hesitating on what to do. Today was my frightening day, I had to do my threatening, evil, best writing sample... My blurry, brown eyes was glazed with smoke and flaming hot fire and all I saw was fire, I even smelt it! It was like it was a idea-fire! Threatening large and great balls of pure, black ash was bashing on me like it was my number one, worst enemy, I also heard dramatic sounds roaring! My teacher sent me to my nice, modern desks. I screamed to myself "What to write! I have no idea...," I  felt as scared as a human on a big parachute not knowing what to do, I also started feeling a great sandstorm. A great light came up in my amazing head! I made a plan, maybe I could write about the time I had to write a writing sample! Ash-hale stopped roaring, I felt complex, powerful and really great! I told myself "I've done well, I will a...

Reflection! - Term 3

This term I have improved my writing by: I have learnt new words/vocabulary and also how to do haiku poems, puns, word playing, riddles, etc. I have also learnt how to do paragraphs and how much sentences you need for one. I have also been using more description and adverbs in my writing. This term I have improved my reading by: I have gotten better at reading with expression and I have learnt knew words so I know what a book is talking about. This term I have improved my maths by: I have gotten better at division and reading division backwards then using my times tables to solve it. I have also been using place value for my addition (sometimes subtraction). I have also learnt to remove certain parts in subtraction instead of getting a big number and using place value so it does not get too confusing. Art/Mindfulness/P.E. (cross-country/gymnastics): I learnt about motorcycle landings and also the rocket jump in gymnastics. In mindfulness, I learnt how to do mindful breaths an...

My amazing bird is a Kea or maybe a Tui.   Here is our exclamation mark. It got brought from the dump. We used resense testpots to paint the door and make it an exclamation mark. It is 4 panel (probably smooth). We used masking tape to create all the coloured shapes.

How to Do a Handstand? (Re-writing in our own words) - Trey and James

To do a handstand you put your hands on the ground and have it shoulder-width apart. You must keep your hands straight on to the floor. Then you flick your feet up in the air and make sure its straight up (make sure you're not leaning backwards/forwards). You can use a wall or a friend to help support you and get you in to the handstand position. Your back has to be straight up and you need to do it on hard ground that will not move because you might break your hand. Trey and James How to do a handstand

We are learning to explain balance

Image

How do we balance?

How do we balance? Balance is important because if you could not balance, you would be always tumbling down to the floor and walking would be tricky. You balance every day! Even other animals balance. Balancing is also very important for gymnastics or then you would keep falling and not up straight, and if there was no balance then probably no one would do gymnastics. To balance well and be up straight, we can have our arms out, It might help due to weight distribution because on what way your arms are facing. This really helps when you are on one foot! You should use this in gymnastics, especially on the wooden beam! Another way to balance well and steady is to focus on a still spot. It helps if there is lots of moving objects/animals around you so you are less distracted from the objects/animals. It helps in gymnastics with other people! In conclusion, balance is an important aspect of humans and even other animals like moneys.  These incredible elements help us to bal...

Fireman saves Kitten

Image
I went out of a dark red and white fire truck. I was wearing yellow and grey. Started wondering "Is a pet would be in the house?". I put down a brown, medium-sized sack then I went walked into a brick, white house. People was talking loudly, I could hear them. There was black ash and rubbish all over the wooden floor. The house smelt like burnt bacon. I had a search around the house, with my big torch light. I saw spider-man toys, a sofa and more! I wondered "Is there anything I can save?", and hoping everyone is out of the fire, Sadness started. Looked at the right, there was a poor, little, cute kitten. Wonders ran on to me, The wonders was: "Is it alive?", "Can I save it?". Sadness came in to my eyes, I picked it up. Its eyes was dim as the black, night sky. The kitten got brought to the truck on the road. The oxygen mask and the water bottle came out of the truck. The mask got put on to the cute kitten. The kitten got some time to br...

Des Hunt - Writing

Des Hunt showed 5 people in Room 10 and some other classes about backstories and making sentences not start with I, my etc. Here is the backstory I wrote before he taught us about not starting with I, my: I am James Ratana Vong Blair. My birth date is 6/8/2007. I am part Cambodia and part Kiwi, But I am from NZ. Sometimes I forget about my dog Noodle when I am playing on the computer. I live on Grey Street. 8 I's and My's He taught us not starting with I by switching the Subject (The person/animal) and the Object (The thing, eg. Letter). If there is lots of I's and My's. There can be to much repetition and it may not sound correct when you say it. Examples: Instead of: My name is James, you could do James is my/his/hers name Instead of: I am 10 years old, you could do 10 years old is his/her/my age He also showed us that writing a book is like chemistry/science. And you need some parts of the book bad and some parts good and add in some punch at...
